from factory to fork

What happens when our products leave the factory?

This casual remark by one of the manufacturing team in Pancosma’s Bellegarde factory lead to an exciting and informative series of visits for the Pancosma staff.

Taking up this comment, site managers Jean-Paul Tranchant and François Gautier, considered it would be productive for their teams to see the consequences of their work. Also to understand how all the new legislation and quality standards they had to follow, had consequences as their products progressed through the food chain. The first port of call was SOTEFAC a French premix company which manufactures 14,000 tonnes a year.

This was an opportunity to see how Pancosma liquid and powder flavours were incorporated into SOTEFAC products. The next visit was to GAEC de l’Orme, a livestock unit managing 300 sows and 6500 piglets a year. Here the importance of palatants in starter feeds to optimise intake was emphasised by the farm staff. Throughout both these visits, meeting customers expectations, especially in terms of product quality, was emphasised to the Pancosma production team.
