new investment boosts customer servicesPancosma has considerable expertise in the analysis of flavour and sweetener ingredients. New legislation demands that accurate and reproducible methods of ingredient traceability are available to all manufacturers of animal feed products.Flavours are volatile organic molecules which can be analysed directly by gas chromatography (GC) methods. However when mixed into a feed product e.g. a premix or finished feed, conventional GC analysis does not always work efficiently due to solvent extraction techniques unable to totally separate the flavour from other feed ingredients. Recently a unique high-tech automated solvent extraction system ASE 200 has been developed by DIONEX®. This has been acquired by Pancosma and will greatly increase the capacity to provide a rapid and accurate analytical service. What are the main advantages of this technique for Pancosma and its customers? Extraction time is reduced by a factor of 5 to 10 times and 24 samples at a time can be analysed automatically. Combined with the need to use less solvent makes the system, besides being extremely actuate, very economic. Reproducibility is excellent as the whole system is automatic and always operates under identical conditions. The high temperature leads to a more efficient extraction compared to conventional GC techniques. Conclusion: DIONEX® ASE 200 allows Pancosma to analyse more samples from the customer with more accurate results and at a better price!
