palatants: what are they?

Continued improvement in breeding has led to animals with high genetic potential. However in many situations this potential cannot be fulfilled because of low feed intakes. Throughout their growth cycle animals can be subject to different types of stress such as rapid diet change, changes in feed formulation due to fluctuating raw material prices and quality, housing conditions, high temperatures, etc. Under these conditions, animals tend to reduce feed consumption which in turn reduces performance.

Pancosma has developed a wide range of palatants which encourages feed intake and consequently optimises performance potential.

The range of palatants consists of taste modifiers and sweeteners in the form of SUCRAM: a world-wide brand leader in its category, flavouring palatants; PIGORTEK for swine, COVOTEK for ruminants and CMO-TEK for young animals.

Besides zootechnical benefits flavours can also give to the feed attractive aromatic properties. This provides a strong brand identity and increases their attractiveness both to the farmer and the animal. The PAN-TEK range is designed for this purpose and combines excellent palatability characteristics with strong marketing benefits. PAN-TEK products are available for all types of feed and animals.
